The Impact Of Garbage
Haulers
According to Kevin
Kirkham of the Ministry of Transport and Dave Rektor of
the OPP, garbage haulers have bad records for truck
safety, especially faulty brakes and tires flying off
vehicles. Loose or cracked lug nuts can result in tires
flying across the road with serious impacts on cars and
their drivers. As noted in the October 2016 and November
2016 issues of OPAL magazine, these present a serious
threat. CTV news talks about “Flying Tire Deaths”. OPP
Sgt. Dave Rektor says "I've seen first-hand the result
of wheels flying off and killing people."
