CPR Goderich To Auburn June 20 2002

The trail starts at the CPR Station in Goderich, Mile 0 and runs East to the Maitland River at Auburn.
The Menesetung Bridge was originally built as a C.P.R. railway bridge in 1907.
At the time of its construction, it was the longest railway bridge in Ontario.
Regular passenger and freight service continued on the line up to the 1970's.
The last steam locomotive passed over the bridge in 1977, and the last diesel locomotive in 1988.
The line between Guelph and Goderich was abandoned in 1989 and portions were converted to walking trails in 1992.
